WTC 2021: The finale

Excited for World Test Championship Finals? Well, the wait is finally going to be over! the ICC World Test Championship Final 2021 will be taking place in Rose Bowl Stadium in Southampton from 18-22 June. And you cannot miss watching this marvelous match; as it is going to be conducted between two best teams of the tournament; i.e. the Indian National Cricket Team and New Zealand National Cricket Team.

It was initially decided that the Championship will take place on June 10 at an iconic venue in London. But because the Indian Premier League is also expected to be played during the same time. It would have disturbed the quarantine schedule of the players. As a result, WTC final will be conducted from 18-22 June with 23rd June being the reserve day.

The Championship started on August 1,2019 with a total of 9 teams participating in the tournament. The league stage of the Championship began with 2019 Ashes and the last series took place between England and India. After which New Zealand and India qualified for the finals. Both of them topped in the ICC WTC points table at the end of the stage cycle.

The grand stage is all set to conduct the finals as both the teams have arrived at the location. Any guesses as to who will win it? Well, if Virat Kohli manages to win the title; then it will be his first ICC trophy as the captain of the Indian cricket team. The Championship is not just a project close to ICC, but also to cricketers like Kohli. Who believe it to be an integral part of the system; that winning it would be the ultimate cherry on the cake.

Indian team qualified for ICC WTC by winning the highest number of matches. It won 12 matches, lost 4 games, had 1 draw match. And is the first team on points table with 72.2%. While for New Zealand, it played 5 series, out of which won 7 matches and lost 4 of them and is the second team on points table with 70%. There has been a lot of changes in the qualification of WTC Final due to Covid-19 as a lot of series had to be postponed or called off.

The finale will be a five day test match that will decide the fate of the tournament and will be attended by around 4000 fans. As per the conditions, it was decided that both the sides will be considered winners in case the match ends up in a tie or draw.

The final ICC World Test Championship 2021 will be broadcasted on StarSports Network in India. Therefore, all the cricket fans can watch the live match on StarSports 3 or StarSports 3 HD.
